Short Biography

I'm a dedicated researcher with great interests on cellulose modification and the functionalization of surfaces using chemical,
enzymatic, and physical methods, with a particular emphasis on designing well-defined surface architectures to achieve targeted
interaction properties. Currently I'm working as a Research Fellow at CENIMAT-i3N, Nova School of Science and Technology,
Lisbon, Portugal, contributing to the project "BRIGHT", which is conducted under the M-Era-Net initiative. This project focuses
on the development of an integrated mechanical energy harvester and a self-powered sensor using functionalized cellulose foam
materials. Alongside CENIMAT-i3N, the project involves esteemed European research institutions, including Alma Science (Portugal)
and IKTS Fraunhofer (Germany). My primary role in this project has been centered on 3D printing modeling of cellulose foam,
followed by extensive electrical and mechanical compression testing. I have completed my Master's degree in Chemistry,
with a dissertation centered in the area of nanocellulose extraction and its characterization, in 2022 at Mahatma Gandhi University,
Kerala, India, finishing with an distinction. My Master's thesis, entitled "Isolation and characterization of nanocellulose
from Sapthobulus parviflourus," demonstrates my expertise in the field of cellulose research. My research experience has been
further enriched by my contribution to a book chapter titled "Carbon nanotubes for sensor and energy applications," published
by Taylor and Francis Group in 2023, in collaboration with Prof. Thomas, former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University.
I have presented my research findings at international conferences, including "Isolation and characterization of nanocellulose
and Preparation of CNC reinforced biopolymer composites for food packaging" at Mahatma Gandhi University in 2023, and "Cellulose:
The Smart Material for Green Electronics" at the European Academy of Science Symposium and Ceremony (EurAc 2024) in Lisbon,
Portugal. In addition to my research activities, I have taken on the responsibility of training master's students in the
use of the 3D printer Bio X6 and freeze dryer. I am also well-trained in operating the universal mechanical tester and humidity
chamber, further broadening my technical expertise.
