Short Biography

My name is Rui Manuel Gonçalves and I finished my Integrated Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in October 2021 with
an avarage of 17/20. During my academic career I had the opportunity to do an internship at Sqédio SA and part-time jobs in
companies where I held the positions of HVAC Construction Supervisor at Team4Cooling and Design Engineer in the company Metalubrava.
I was also one of the funders members of Innova Junior Technology Consulting as Presidente of the supervisory board. I made
my master's thesis in glass fiber reinforced composite recycling where I sucessufly established a way to reuse waste of these
materials by integrating them in a gypsum matrix, with more competitive results when compared with conventional plaster. During
the dissertation it was necessary to develop a high-precision three-point bending machine and advanced processes of test characterization
as Digital Image Correlation and SEM were used. I finnished with a score of 19/20 values. Currently I am member of DEMI, as
a Phd student with the 2022.11133.BD scholarship entitled "Recycling strategies for Glass Fibers Reinforced Polymers and their
use as reinforcement material in additively manufactured components" As first author I have two publications: "Evaluating
the potential use of recycled glass fibers for the development of gypsum-based composites" and "Recycling of Reinforced Glass
Fibers Waste: Current Status".

Project and construction of a rotary sieving device. A rotary sieving machine has been designed and built using additive manufacturing processes. It is made up of three consecutively larger circular sieves that enable a granulometric classification of elements that tend to be slender and have an irregular geometry. The equipment has a transmission system with a worm screw and a circular gear. 2021.
Machine Elements 1 – class handbook. In this output a new version of the Machine Elements 1 class manual has been made with new re-drawn technical drawings using AutoCAD. The drawings have a thorough explanation of the mechanical and physical working principles. In addition, all tables have also been restructured. 2021. High precision bending machine for low loads. The machine features a load cell that takes readings up to 200N with an accuracy of 0.25%. Different fixtures can be integrated for 3 or 4 point flexural test. It is driven by a stepper motor with a 15:1 ratio gearbox, controlled with an arduino board.. 2021.
